“Your eyes are spectral machines” è una selezione di film in cui Luis Macias indaga il concetto di quello che lui chiama cinema spettrale. Esplora ciascuna delle diverse componenti dello spettro cinematografico: il processo e la struttura come sfida, la trasformazione fotochimica in laboratorio di immagini create e/o appropriate, il montaggio/manipolazione e rifotografia attraverso la stampante ottica/a contatto e la proiezione come evento… Si tratta di parti di una forma filmica organizzata in strutture chiuse che consentono spazi intermedi che forzano/attivano l’improvvisazione.
Le proprietà dell’immagine e delle sue forme e la modifica/alterazione della struttura meccanica del proiettore si combinano in nuove proposte per l’esercizio dell’occhio umano che esplora le immagini della natura e/o come essa ci si rivela.

“Your eyes are spectral machines” è un programma cinematografico presentato dal regista Luis Macias sull’esplorazione, manipolazione e variazione di un’immagine o della sua assenza ››
›› Spectral Landscape” è una performance intermittente, sottile e violenta con diversi proiettori di diapositive modificati che esplora l’immagine della natura e il modo in cui ci viene rivelata.
›› “The kiss” è un progetto video-cinematografico composto da 24 formati e dove la struttura costruisce e distrugge l’immagine stessa attraverso il suo processo interiore.
›› Gli occhi vuoti e le pupille ardenti di rabbia e desiderio parte dall’assenza di un’immagine che è la sua stessa distruzione e costruisce un particolare universo organico che sta lentamente emergendo da un rapporto di eccitazione e amore tra l’emulsione e il proiettore.
Luis Macias ricerca nella forma, nella struttura di ogni pezzo, attraverso un’elaborazione dettagliata del processo e la manipolazione del dispositivo meccanico, provocando una percezione spettrale della Natura.
Biografia:
Luis Macias (1976, Barcellona, Spagna.) È un artista, regista e compositore di immagini. I suoi pezzi trattano le proprietà formali e spettrali dell’immagine in movimento, attraverso l’esplorazione del dispositivo cinematografico stesso e della natura fotochimica del mezzo. Incentrato sulle pratiche sperimentali e procedurali dell’immagine analogica, i suoi lavori in formato Super 8,16mm, 35mm e/o video sono composti per proiezione, performance o installazione. I suoi film e pezzi di cinema espanso sono stati proiettati in prestigiosi festival cinematografici, artistici e musicali, nonché in centri d’arte, musei e spazi alternativi in tutto il mondo.
Ha preso parte a mostre collettive e finora ha avuto una personale. Inoltre ha collaborato con vari artisti, musicisti e registi nella realizzazione di opere collettive. Cofondatore e membro attivo di Crater-Lab, laboratorio indipendente per il cinema analogico, alterna il lavoro artistico con l’insegnamento specializzato nel cinema sperimentale e nell’esplorazione dei formati analogici.

Your eyes are spectral machines is a selection of films in which Luis Macias investigates the concept of what he calls spectral cinema. Exploring each of the different components of the film spectrum: the process and structure as a challenge, the photochemical transformation in the laboratory of created and/or appropriate images, editing/manipulation and re-photography through the optical/contact printer, and the projection as an event … These are parts of a filmic form organized in closed structures allowing intermediate spaces that force/activate improvisation.
The properties of the image and its forms and the modification/alteration of the mechanical structure of the projector are combined in new proposals for the exercise of a human eye that explores the images of nature and/or how it is revealed to us.

›› Spectral Landscape is an intermittent, subtle and violent performance with several modified slide projectors that explores the image of nature and how it is revealed to us.
›› The kiss is a video-cinematographic project composed by 24 formats and where the structure builds and destroys the image itself through its inner process.
›› The eyes empty and the pupils burning of rage and desire begins with the absence of an image that is its own destruction and builds a particular organic universe that is slowly emerging from a relation of excitement and love between the emulsion and the projector.
Luis Macias searches in the form, the structure of each piece, through a detailed elaboration of the process and the manipulation of the mechanical device, causing a spectral perception of Nature.
Bio:
Luis Macias (1976, Barcelona, Spain.) Is an artist, filmmaker and image composer. His pieces deal with the formal and spectral properties of the moving image, through the exploration of the cinematographic device itself and the photochemical nature of the medium. Focused on experimental and procedural practices of analog image, his works in Super 8,16mm, 35mm and / or video format are composed for projection, performance or installation. His films and pieces of expanded cinema have been shown in prestigious film, art and music festivals as well as art centers, museums and alternative spaces around the world.
He’s been part of collective exhibitions and has had one individual so far. Also he has collaborated with various artists, musicians and filmmakers in the creation of collective works. Co-founder and an active member of Crater-Lab, an independent laboratory for analog cinema, and alternates his art work with specialized teaching in experimental cinema and the exploration of analog formats.
